It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
